How Often Should You Get Your Nails Done?

When being new to getting our nails done, it can be confusing to figure out how long we should wait before booking our next appointment. During this learning phase we’ll find ourselves either going in earlier than necessary, or waiting too long. Once you figure out the pace of appointments that works for you, you will be able to wear flawless nails consistently!

Your First Visit

When first stepping foot in a nail salon, we have only one thing in mind: the beautiful and colorful nails we’re about to step out with. Although getting our nails painted is a relaxing activity, it is also an act of self-care. There are certain rules to follow if you wish to maximize the multiple benefits of your experience. One of which is timing between appointments. Anyone getting their nails done for the very first time has no idea how long it will take for their nails to grow out and their cuticles to creep back up. The goal, however, is usually to keep up with the maintenance of our hands in order to avoid having to deal with the consequences of waiting too long.

The Learning Phase

A learning phase is necessary to figure these things out. Two weeks after getting your nails done for the first time is where you want to pay close attention to your hands on a day to day basis. Look for signs of wear and tear on the majority of your nails, or a nail growth showing more than 2.1mm to 3.5mm between the base of the polish and your nail bed. Once you see one or both of these signs, take note and see how many days have passed since your appointment.

The Right Timing

Once you know how long it takes for your nails to show signs of wear and tear, you will be able to book every follow-up appointment following this timeline. This will save you from the stress of booking an appointment last minute or from the disappointment of not being able to get in at a desired time due to unavailability. Getting your set of nails filled in or your nail polish changed along with the removal of your cuticles will keep your hands looking clean and visibly well manicured, ensuring your nails remain consistently flawless.

Conclusion

Stepping into new habits exposes us to whole new worlds of things to learn. The nail industry is no different. While it can be exciting, even a little bit intimidating at first, treating yourself to regular manicures or fancy nail art is an incredibly effective form of self-love. Figuring out the pace of appointments that works for us personally makes navigating appointments much easier. It also teaches us a little more about our own body, which adds to the experience as a whole.
