Manicures = Self-Care

It is recommended to take a three to four weeks break from nail extensions and nail polish every three to six months in order to allow the nail beds to recuperate. The problem is if we completely stop taking care of our hands during this break, cuticles will grow, dead skin cells will build up, hangnails will appear and the overall state of our hands will simply start to deteriorate.

To prevent this, we want to keep up with our established manicure routine, while forgoing any nail polish or nail extensions of any kind for the entire duration of the break. This helps promote the health and recovery of the nail beds while keeping our hands clean and presentable.

Hands hygiene

Just like some may not realize the importance of maintenance manicures during a break period, the general population is unaware of the importance of manicures within a basic hygiene routine. This is either due to a lack of awareness or, in most cases, to a very low ranking on one’s priority list. Whatever the case may be, for those who’ve never experienced a professional manicure, it’s impossible to know what they’ve been missing out on for all these years.

Visibly Deteriorated Hands

The absence of extensive care for our hands can lead to a plethora of nagging issues. Some of us simply never looked further than hand lotion as a solution to our numerous hangnails, to our short nail beds or to the accumulation of dead skin cells on our hands. Which is why these problems persist. Generic hand lotion alone has its purpose but when it comes to these specific issues, it only acts as a band-aid.

Regular Manicures

There exists a perfect world where your hands are constantly flawless. A world where your nail beds are longer and where hangnails are practically non-existent. But there is a price to pay. To enter this world, you must visit a soothing establishment on a regular basis where you get to sit back, to relax, to be taken care of and even to vent a little bit. Your only responsibility in this world is to regularly moisturize your hands with hand cream or cuticle oil between appointments. Pretty good deal, isn’t it?

Conclusion

Having your hands professionally taken care of is not a matter of life and death, but it does improve one’s quality of life quite a bit. Whether you enjoy visiting the nail salon as a form of self-love or the peace of mind it brings you concerning the health of your hands as well as the health of your feet, manicures are an excellent way to elevate your hygiene routine. As a by-product, being proactive by visiting the nail salon on a regular basis will also elevate your lifestyle in a healthy and effective way!
